Saying
of the Legend:
Cai Shun, also known as Jun Zhong of Han Dynasty, his father died
early. He was very filial to his mother. Just then the country was
in turmoil and chaos of war, like many other people, he had no grain
to eat. He had to go to pick up the mulberry to allay hunger. He put
the tree fruits into two different bamboo baskets. By chance, the
Chimei robber leading his troops just passed by and he asked Cai
Shun: "Why are you doing this way? " Cai Shun replied:
“The black ones which are sweet ripe fruit will be given to my
mother to eat; while the red ones which are bitter not yet ripe
fruit will be for myself to eat”. His filial act towards his
loving mother moved Chimei very much and he subsequently gave him 2
fills of rice, 1 piece of ox hoof to be taken home for his mother.
