To celebrate the birthday of Qing Xi Xian You Bo Zhu (City God), our Temple has engaged several opera troupes from Malaysia and Singapore to perform traditional Hokkien and Teochew operas for a total of 124 days (commencing from 28.3.2019 to 31.7.2019). Our Temple will host the Teochew opera on the birthday of City God (30.6.2019) while the remaining 123 days of operas will be sponsored by our Temple’s devotees, supporters and well-wishers.

To participate in this ritual, devotees are required to register before the ritual, and obtain a set of paper offerings at $5/- per set. After the ritual, devotees may bring a joss stick home to be placed in the incense urn at the home altar. Devotees who do not have a home altar may place the joss stick at a temporary joss stick holder in the living room till the joss stick burns out. 2) Praying to Taisui From 08.02.2019 – 06.03.2019, at 7:00am – 8:30pm, devotees may visit the temple to pray to Taisui for good fortune, prosperity, peace…

The official opening of Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple Spring Fair was held on 13.2.2018 at 8pm at the Temple premises. This grant annual event to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Dog was jointly organized by the Arumugam Road Combined Temples. The event was graced by Ms Tin Pei Ling, MP for Macpherson and Advisor to Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple Association. Taipei Representative, Mr Francis Liang and Deputy Representative, Mr Steven Tai and Legal Advisor, Mr Choo Si Sen, JP, BBM jointly officiate the event on stage. During this event, Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple Association had also launched the App for devotees to check information through their mobile phones. Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple had existed for 100 years and it celebrated its century anniversary with a series of commemorative events from 22 September 2017 to 2 October 2017. The Sheng Hong City God Deity arrived in Singapore by sea in 1917 from Anxi, China. The Deity has since been worshipped in Singapore and has been consecrated at Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple. The Temple has been a vibrant place of worship for many devotees and the devotees are increasing. Xi Zhong Deity was traditionally worship by the Chinese in ancient time. This Deity was found by Xi Zhong and his son, whom they invented the wooden wheels for horse cart. Their intention was to relieve the burden of the village folks by helping them to transport heavy goods through horse carts. Xi Zhong’s invention had helped and brought much convenience to the villagers. He earned their respect and was gradually worshipped as a vehicle Deity for blessings of safe and smooth journey in their livelihood. As the society progressed, people enjoyed better living and started to own vehicles as a form of transport. Better roads were built and gradually, vehicles became an essential mode of transport on the road. Vehicle users would pray to the Deity for blessings of smooth and safe journey. Xi Zhong Deity was consecrated at the Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple on an auspicious day, 26.9.2017 at 9.30am by the senior Priests from Singapore Hun Yuan Dao Tan. HERITAGE TOUR TO ANXI SHENG HONG TEMPLE – By JiLing Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple organized a heritage tour to visit the Sheng Hong Temple annually in Hokkien Anxi Province. This year, the 6-day tour was held from 2 – 7 April 2017 with more than 60 participants. I am delighted to be a member of the entourage.
